Iosif Andriasov - Musical Sketch for Oboe and Chamber Orchestra, Op. 24
Iosif Andriasov - Musical Sketch for Oboe and Piano, Op. 24

FROM THE BOOK: “ESSAYS ON THE MUSIC OF IOSIF ANDRIASOV” WRITTEN BY MARTA ANDRIASOVA (MARINA KUDRYASHOVA)
Iosif Andriasov composed the Musical Sketch for Oboe and Chamber
Orchestra in 1970. The composition was first performed by the musicians
of the USSR All-State Radio and Television Orchestra, under Maestro Gennady
Cherkasov. In 1975, Iosif Andriasov
borrowed the music from this piece and
used it in the first movement of his Concerto for French Horn and Symphony
Orchestra, Opus 28. There are many versions created by Iosif Andriasov and the transcription for piano was done by Arshak Andriasov.
In the 2nd half of the 1960s, Iosif Andriasov intensively studied various
musical-stylistic techniques, contemporary to his time. In the Musical
Sketch, he unites the original tonal element with the achievements of
professional music of the XX century: serialism, aleatory, pointillism; emancipation
of dissonance, the symmetric construction of chords, unification of the
horizontal and vertical (thematic harmony), micro-thematic type of organization
that is side by side with the extended themes. A combination of the diatonic
and the chromatic worlds becomes the author’s intention. Those two planes
peacefully coexist, enriching one another.
